Q: Tell us a bit about yourself! Who are you, how did you get into writing, which work of yours are you most proud of?

A:  Angel Kyle from Norfolk, VA. Received my Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Clinical Psychology. I started writing poetry in high school which led to doing spoken word where I earned the stage name WayWitWordz. I wanted to have more of an impact on society so I wrote my first book which I’m most proud of, “If Real Men Cry, Who Wipes the Tears” in my attempt to enlighten women to the male perspective. Understand the things he wants to communicate and emotions he wants to express but can’t because society tells his not to. By providing women with this knowledge it allows them to open their eyes, turn the mirror on themselves and have more empathy and compassion to the daily struggles men face in life and relationships/marriage.

Q: What’s the book about? Tell us where the story takes us.

A: Explores themes of male vulnerability and emotional expression to help bridge gaps in understanding between genders and promote healthier relationships, rather than a literal question about tear-wiping logistics. The book uses narratives and essays to challenge the societal notion that men shouldn't cry and to encourage men to embrace their full humanity and emotional capacity, suggesting that true strength comes from feeling and expressing oneself authentically.

Q: What are the most important themes you wanted to get out into the world with this book? Did you struggle to incorporate them into the writing?

A: The important themes are: how men are conditioned to not express emotions, how men need to feel safe mentally and emotionally, how words hurt men just like women, fathers experiences, how communication isn’t the key to a successful relationship; it takes communication, comprehension, and compromising, how men too want to have what they want as well, giving truth and honesty even when it’s hard, women feeling that titles give them certain entitlements and a man’s issue with that. Dating with similarities and differences, and how a married man isn’t defined by his wife’s happiness, he himself is worhty of the same happiness.

Q: How long did it take you to write this book? Did you grow in your writing during this time?

A: It took a year and a half to write the book as I had to interview women of all ages and races to get their struggles with men and be able to explain the man’s perspective when he is in moments that the women described.

Q: The usual question is, of course, why people should read your book. We’ll get to that later, but why would you read your book, if you hadn’t written it?

A: To have the feeling or empathy and compassion I don't always get as a man. Reading this book will allow men to see there are others that understand what they go through in relationships and in life. They can find solace with the information being conveyed.

Q: So… Why should people read your book?

A: Women should read it to gain insights of the things the do and how it impacts their men. If they know how it makes their men feel, they can change the behavior and reach for mutual respect and happiness. Men should read to have the confidence to express themselves without shame from society and embrace that they feel heard even if they aren’t saying it, reading the book allows the information to speak for them.

Q: Did you write parts of yourself into the book? Or did you detach yourself from the story to write from an entirely different perspective?

A: I completely took my own personal feelings and experiences out of the book so it can be relatable to men and women everywhere. I didn’t want my book to come across as bias.

Q: Are there any scenes or plot points you cut out because they just didn’t work?

A: None, I wrote my book exactly the way it turned out.

Q: Where did you draw inspiration from, when you were looking for outside inspiration? Did you do a lot of research? Did you look for pictures with the right vibe?

A: I was inspired by my friends and family members that struggle to find good women while being good men and I didn’t understand why they got bashed for being themselves. Even with myself, I was constantly criticized for having good intentions but my actions weren’t of the woman’s approval, therefore I was in the wrong. I did my research by interviewing over a 100 women and men seeking stories, finding the common areas of their experiences and writing the sides and feelings of them.

Q: Are there any easter eggs in your story, or things that you’d only see if you read the book a second time?

A: none

Q: Rapid fire word association. One word (yes, you’re allowed more for titles) to describe your book for different topics. Here we go. 1: song, 2: different book, 3: color, 4: meal or food, 5: weather type, 6: environment (forest, cinema, kitchen, etc.), 7: mood.

A: 1. Mariah Carey “Breakdown”/ Bone Thugs N Harmony “I Tried”  2. Not Easily Broken 3. Gray 4. Honey glazed salmon with rice and vetegables 5. Rain, 6. On the Couch 7. Optimistic

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about you or your book?

A: It has the potential to be a best seller and it can change so many relationships, and marriages. Love will return to it’s true definition if readers take the information seriously.

Q: Lastly, where can people find you and your book?

A: Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, Books-A-Million, Walmart, Ebay
